Libraries to Go: A Book and Article Delivery Service for Faculty

For assistance with any document delivery questions, please email uls-librariestogo@mail.pitt.edu.

Utilizing student couriers, we will deliver books from any ULS libraries to any Pitt faculty members office within the prescribed boundaries of the Pittsburgh campus, and will deliver journal articles electronically!

This service is extended to all faculty members with offices on the Pittsburgh campus, including the faculties of Law and the Health Sciences. Before explaining the service, we want to thank Provost Jim Maher for providing the support necessary for us to mount this new service.

How it works:

  • Requests can be made for books and for copies of journal articles located in any Pittsburgh Campus libraries, including Health Sciences and Law.
  • Books will be delivered to Oakland Campus offices or to Pittsburgh Campus ULS libraries.
  • Journal articles will only be delivered electronically.
  • You can expect delivery within 1-2 business days . Materials from other campuses, the Health Sciences and Law libraries, or offsite storage may take slightly longer.
  • Libraries to Go couriers cannot return books to the library for faculty.
  • Faculty members may designate a graduate student or staff member as their proxy using the Libraries To Go Proxy Request Form (PDF) .
    • The proxy agreement must be renewed each term.
    • A signature is required for all deliveries.
    • No one who is not specifically authorized as a proxy may sign for deliveries.
    • The faculty member is responsible for all materials charged to their library account.
  • Faculty whose records are blocked due to suspension of circulation privileges will not be able to place requests.
  • UPMC faculty not affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh cannot place ULS document delivery requests and should use HSLS Document Delivery.
